Sanity Check...Please!...
In case it's not clear, I was trying to make a "pun-ny" using "Sanity Check" and "Check, Please!" It has been one of those weeks...where Monday just keeps rolling on through the rest of the week!
At work my patience has been wearing thin the past few days...the group I have been supervising the past two weeks has been pushing their boundaries. I hate to be the one that nitpicks on every little thing, but lately it has gone too far. I try to be a supervisor who gets along with the interviewers so they don't resent me, but I don't want them to think they can just walk all over me. Today I had one of those "fed up" moments...best way to explain it. It was towards the end of the day and two of the interviewers were talking fairly loudly across another's booth and I finally just said in a "I mean what I say" tone, "J**** and D****, you both need to quiet down, turn around and dial."
Thinking about it now I have to snicker, because the look on the one's face just said it all...it was that Holy-S***-Did-Mister-Quiet-Just-Say-That? look. All day I was trying the nice, polite approach...and that was NOT working. If I tell you to quiet down or try to get it through that I'm trying to work, and you just laugh and look at me like I'm stupid...it's not going to be pretty. If they keep it up, I might have to do some strategic seating arrangements! Grrr!
Today just has me thinking about Cartman from tr show "Southpark"..."Respect my authority!"
