Testing My Patience...

I had a project that REALLY tested my patience...and sanity...and skill...and whatever else it took me to get it finished...

I had a Compaq laptop to repair that was much less than fun to do. I had ordered the part and it came in over the weekend, so I just needed to put it in...BUT I was DREADING it with a passion. The part was the power plug jack, which is what the charging cord plugs in to. On the inside of the laptop the jack was layered under two or three different things, so it was NOT a simple process to replace it.

First off was removing the battery. Then removing the keyboard. Then the power button bezel. Then the LCD screen. Then the hard drive. Then the optical disc drive. Then the top of the base. Then the fan. Then a speaker. And finally the power plug jack. ... Once the jack was replaced, I then started the rebuilding process. All-in-all it probably took an hour and 45 minutes to complete start-to-finish, but it felt like an eternity! Not my favorite repair task!

Here's some of the pictures of my challenge...

(This is with it all taken apart...doesn't much look like a laptop!)

(This is how I was able to keep all of the tiny screws in order, and not lost!)

(All of that destruction for such a small piece!)

Hopefully I don't have another power plug jack to install for awhile!
